Program:
MENDELSSOHN: Piano Concerto No. 1
MAHLER: Symphony No. 10
BRAHMS: Hungarian Dance No. 6 - Gewandhaus Orchestra, Kurt Masur, conductor (Philips 441 426)

Description:
Gustav Mahler wrote his final symphony while listening to his own quietly failing heartbeat, aware that any moment could be his last. Mahler never finished his 10th, but what we have of it is some of the most moving music he — or anyone — ever wrote.
